Jeremy Sochan acknowledges Knicks fan who stole a sign at parade

The New York Knicks hit the streets of Manhattan for a parade on Thursday in celebration of their recent NBA championship, which they won in five games vs the San Antonio Spurs. Numerous high-profile guests were in attendance, including New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, recording artist Alicia Keys, and actors Ben Stiller and Timothee Chalamet.

One fan stole a poster showcasing Knicks reserve forward Jeremy Sochan’s name from a truck, later posting about the incident on X, formerly Twitter, and Sochan himself has since taken to social media to acknowledge the viral incident.

Sochan played sparingly for the Knicks during their playoff run this year, filling in for some spot minutes at times when Karl-Anthony Towns found himself in foul trouble. Sochan coincidentally was picked up by the Knicks after being released from the San Antonio Spurs earlier in the year, and would have gotten a championship ring regardless of who won the Finals.

The Knicks put together one of the most dominant playoff runs in recent NBA history this postseason, going 15-1 to finish out the slate after falling behind 2-1 in the first round to the Atlanta Hawks. The sailing wasn’t quite as smooth in the NBA Finals, but the Knicks frequently took advantage of the inexperienced Spurs’ mistakes en route to their first championship since the 1973 season.

The Knicks will now focus on trying to become the first repeat NBA champion since the 2018 Golden State Warriors. In fact, no champ has made it back to the NBA Finals the next year since the Warriors the following season.

For the time being, however, the Knicks are making sure that their epic championship run receives its proper commemoration.
