Knicks fan steals spotlight with nasty juke to evade police at parade

The New York Knicks victory in the NBA Championship has led to a series of non-stop celebrations in The Big Apple. The biggest of those events took place Thursday in the Knicks’ victory parade in Manhattan. Speeches were given by political officials, Knicks management and coaches and the players themselves. No speech was better received than the remarks of Knicks hero Jalen Brunson, the superstar who virtually pushed the Knicks to the title.

“There’s a lot of people that have a lot of negative stuff to say,” Brunson said. “There’s a lot of people who have a lot of opinions. But when you prove them wrong, you really don’t have to say s— to them. They don’t deserve it.”

Huge crowds assembled in Manhattan’s Canyon of Heroes to celebrate the title with a ticker tape parade. Fans gathered throughout the borough to show their appreciation. Security was heavy at all corners of the event and police attempted to keep the crowd both contained and orderly. One incident involving a Knicks fan was caught on camera, as the fan used a series of jukes to get away from a number of police officers. The fan was able to cut back at full speed to avoid being detained or questioned.

Early Knicks titles did not receive parade through Canyon of Heroes

The Knicks had a brilliant run throughout the postseason to win their third championship in team history and their first since 1973. When the Knicks won titles in ’70 and ’73, those teams did not receive the ticker tape celebrations that championship teams in New York City are famous for getting from their adoring fans.

After losing two of their three first-round games to the Atlanta Hawks, the Knicks rolled through the postseason. They swept the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers before beating Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs in five games.
