The New York Knicks enjoyed the title parade on Thursday after winning the 2026 NBA Finals over the San Antonio Spurs. There were several viral moments throughout the celebration, including a moment in which the NYPD thought Tyler Kolek was a fan. One cool moment came during the parade, when Jordan Clarkson was caught off guard by a sign in the crowd.
As one of the floats was driving through the streets, Clarkson spotted a sign that made his jaw drop immediately. It was a sign that gave the 34-year-old guard a shoutout for his Filipino heritage.
“First Ever Filipino NBA Champion!” read the sign.

Jordan Clarkson has citizenship in the Philippines. In 2011, he attempted to play for the Philippine national team. At the time, he was denied eligibility due to not meeting certain requirements by FIBA.
Since then, the NBA cleared Clarkson to play with the Philippine national team in 2018, where he participated in the 2018 Asia Games. He also participated with the team in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, serving as one of the go-to options for the Philippines (averaged 26.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1.2 steals, 0.2 blocks).
After 12 years in the NBA, Jordan Clarkson finally won his first ring. He served as a consistent role player for the Knicks throughout the 2025-26 campaign, averaging 8.6 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while shooting 45.1% from the field and 32.7% from beyond the arc.
His future hangs in the balance, however, as Clarkson is due to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. That is, if the Knicks decide not to re-sign him before the free agency window opens. Until then, the 2020-21 Sixth-Man of the Year will enjoy winning a championship with New York.
