During the festivities at the New York Knicks’ championship parade, actor John Turturro was spotted partying, and backup guard Landry Shamet gave his “illegitimate” dad a special shoutout.
The knockdown shooter reposted a video of Turturro on his Instagram Stories. He joked that the Severance actor is his “racially ambiguous illegitimate father” due to their similarities.

Turturro is a huge Knicks fan, so it makes sense that he was among the many celebrities on a float at the parade. Timothée Chalamet, Spike Lee, and Ben Stiller were also seen on floats.
Landry Shamet helped the Knicks win a championship

While his stats were down in the NBA Finals, Shamet played a pivotal role in the Knicks’ run to the Finals. After averaging 7.5 and 9.8 points per game in the Eastern Conference Semifinals and the Eastern Conference Finals, he averaged just 6.8 points per game in the Finals.
He got hot at the right time, shooting nearly 92% on three-pointers in the Eastern Conference Finals. He made 11 of his 12 three-pointers in the series.
Shamet wasn’t quite as hot in the Finals. He made just eight of his 26 three-pointers in the series. His best performance was in Game 1 when he scored 13 points (tied for his series-high). That night, he made five of his nine field goals.
During the regular season, Shamet averaged 9.3 points per game. He played in 51 games, starting 12 of them, during the 82-game regular season.
This was his second year in the Big Apple. Shamet signed with the Knicks in 2024, initially joining the Westchester Knicks. He was then re-signed on a one-year deal in September 2025.
Before that, he had stints with the 76ers, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Brooklyn Nets, the Phoenix Suns, and the Washington Wizards. He has been a journeyman since being a first-round pick (26th overall) in the 2018 NBA Draft out of Wichita State.
