Toronto Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman is one of the better pitchers in MLB, but he did not look like it on Friday. The veteran hurler allowed seven earned runs in the first inning of Friday’s game against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. According to Mitch Bannon of The Athletic, Gausman walked four hitters in the inning after not walking more than three in any other game this season.
Gausman was simply off his game. It happens to the best players. Nevertheless, this will be an outing Gausman was to move on from as soon as possible.
For now, the Blue Jays will attempt to erase the early deficit and complete the come-from-behind win on the road. That is something that will be much easier said than done as the Cubs lead 7-0 as of this story’s writing.
More to come on this story.
