NBA rumors: Are multiple top-10 teams prepared to pass on Kingston Flemings in NBA Draft?

Former Houston Cougars guard Kingston Flemings has been projected to be a top 10 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft throughout most of the offseason. However, the latest buzz in the rumor mill suggests otherwise, as several teams in the top 10 may be looking elsewhere to address the backcourt.

In Brett Siegel’s latest NBA Mock Draft 4.0, the NBA insider claims the Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, and Dallas Mavericks are three teams potentially losing interest in Flemings. Sacramento appears to be high on Darisu Acuff Jr., Atlanta seems to like center Aday Mara and prefers Mikel Brown Jr. and Keaton Wagler at the guard position, and Dallas has Flemings ranked low on their draft board.

“Maybe I am reading this wrong, and all the smokescreens are hiding their true intentions after Acuff, but I don’t get the sense that the Kings are that high on Kingston Flemings,” wrote Siegel.

“Do [the Hawks] view Flemings, who did visit with the team, as a long-term option at the point guard position next to Dyson Daniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker, or do they go with Mara, who they’ve been linked to throughout the pre-draft process?” pondered Siegel. “One thing that is known about the Hawks is that they hold high interest in Brown and Wagler.”

“Sources have indicated that the Mavericks do not hold much interest in Flemings and have him ranked lower than the other guards in this class, including [Brayden] Burries,” said Siegel. “If he isn’t taken prior to this selection, there is a strong possibility Flemings would again be passed up on.”

While the possibility of Kingston Flemings falling out of the top 10 appears to be a realistic outcome, Siegel has the 6-foot-6 guard going No. 10 overall to the Milwaukee Bucks in his latest mock draft. While some other teams might have Flemings lower on their board, he still has the potential of becoming a franchise guard for whoever selects him.

The 19-year-old guard played one year at Houston before declaring for the NBA Draft. He played a key role for the Cougars, as his efforts were good enough to name him to the All-American Second-Team. Flemings played 37 games in his lone college basketball season, averaging 17.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.2 assists while shooting 44.5% from the floor and 39.7% from three-point range.
