The Milwaukee Brewers are set to receive a Brandon Woodruff boost soon. Woodruff, who is dealing with a shoulder injury, has been working hard to return. On Friday, Brewer manager Pat Murphy revealed when Woodruff will return to the starting rotation, via Adam McCalvy of MLB.com.
“Brandon Woodruff will rejoin the Brewers’ rotation during the Cincinnati series, Pat Murphy said,” McCalvy reported.
The 33-year-old has performed well for the most part this season, but he has been limited to only six starts. Woodruff has turned in a respectable 3.60 ERA during that span, though. The two-time All-Star should be able to help the Brewers as Milwaukee looks to further increase its lead in the National League Central standings.
The Brewers are set to begin a three-game series with the Atlanta Braves on Friday night. Milwaukee is set to enter the series with a 45-27 overall record. The ball club is just a half-game behind the Atlanta Braves for the second best record in the National League. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Dodgers lead the way with a 48-27 record.
As for the NL Central, the Brewers hold a 5.5 game lead over the second place St. Louis Cardinals.
The Brewers continue to play a quality brand of baseball. The team simply finds ways to win games despite not featuring as much overall talent as some of the other top contenders in the sport.
Woodruff’s return from injury will give them even more of a boost. For now, the ball club’s focus is on Friday night’s game in Atlanta against the Braves. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 PM EST.
