As the Los Angeles Lakers look to bolster their roster this offseason to reach the promised land, there is no doubt that the team will be centered around star Luka Doncic. While rumors will surround the Lakers due to that, Doncic would also get a shoutout from New York Knicks guard and newly crowned NBA champion Jalen Brunson.
Speaking with the “Kids Sports Reporters,” Brunson would be asked whose phone number he has that would be the “most famous person.” It took a while for him to think, but Brunson ultimately said Doncic, which makes a lot of sense, since both were teammates when on the Dallas Mavericks from 2018 to 2022.
Brunson would then humoursly say how he is “not a fan” of Doncic and how he was “one of the worst teammates” he has ever had. However, in a hilarious moment, Brunson would be surprised when hearing from one of the young co-hosts that Doncic “doesn’t play defense.”
“He plays a little defense, he tries,” Brunson said, as he proceeded to laugh.

Brunson is enjoying a huge limelight after leading the Knicks to their first championship since 1973, beating the San Antonio Spurs in five games. Doncic and the Lakers look to reach the NBA Finals next season after a season where they had a 53-29 record, which put them third in the Western Conference.
However, Doncic would miss the entirety of the NBA Playoffs, which would consist of Los Angeles beating the Houston Rockets in six games, but then getting swept in the second round of the postseason by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
