The 2026 NBA Draft is just around the corner, and one projected first round pick, potentially even a lottery pick, is Tennessee forward Nate Ament. Ament is reportedly the biggest mystery in this year’s draft, as per ClutchPoints’ NBA insider Brett Siegel, with the possibility of a team outside of the lottery moving up via trade to try and select him.
Nate Ament recently appeared on a sit-down segment with ESPN Andscape’s Marc J. Spears where he broke down his game and how he can be a benefit to whatever team ends up picking him in the NBA Draft, be it a lottery pick or after.
“I think that there’s definitely a lot of room to grow. I think that’s another reason why the team I get drafted by is huge because they’re gonna have a huge imprint on the player I become,” Ament said. “Me as a player, I feel like I’m so imprintable. I can learn so many different things, pick up so many different things.”
Ament played one season at Tennessee under head coach Rick Barnes before declaring for the NBA Draft. During his freshman year, he played in 35 games, all starts, at a little over 29 minutes per game. He averaged 16.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steals with splits of 39.9 percent shooting from the field, 33.3 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 79 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
As Siegel reported, several teams have reported interest in potentially drafting Ament including the Milwaukee Bucks, LA Clippers, Dallas Mavericks and Brooklyn Nets.
