Scottie Scheffler may have made the cut at the US Open, but he certainly has not played his best golf. However, his chip in for birdie on hole 14 during day 3 will give Scheffler fans some hope for the remainder of the tournament.

Scheffler is now back at even following the huge shot. He still has work to do, as Wyndham Clark holds a commanding lead with his -7 score. Nevertheless, Scheffler is making things interesting at the very least.
Scheffler is still the top golfer in the world. He is a two-time Masters winner, one-time PGA Championship winner and one-time Open Championship winner. However, Scheffler has never won the US Open.
He came the closest to winning the tournament in 2022, when he finished in second place. Matt Fitzpatrick won the tournament during the ’22 campaign.
Scheffler would obviously love to earn the career grand slam. With the way Clark is playing, though, the 29-year-old will need to play an elite brand of golf moving forward. He will also likely need Clark to struggle as well. Winning the tournament on Sunday would be special for Scheffler, who will turn 30 on June 21.
When it comes to the game of golf, anything can happen. All it takes is one bad day for the player at the top of the leaderboard to lose his momentum. Scheffler is certainly still in the conversation.
And perhaps his jaw-dropping chip in on hole 14 will give him the necessary momentum to play at a high level for the remainder of the US Open.
