New York Mets star Francisco Lindor is continuing to recover from a calf injury. While it remains to be seen exactly when Lindor will return, he is taking steps forward in his injury recovery. Before the team’s game on Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies, manager Carlos Mendoza revealed what is next for Lindor, via SNY Mets.
“Syracuse tomorrow (for Lindor’s next rehab game),” Mendoza said. “He’s going to Syracuse tomorrow… Off today and then he’s playing for Syracuse tomorrow. Then we will see where he’s at after Sunday.”
The Mets are proceeding with caution. They do not want to risk an injury setback by rushing Lindor back to MLB too quickly. The fact that he is playing in injury rehab games is obviously an encouraging sign, though.
The 32-year-old shortstop has only appeared in 24 games this season due to injury. A five-time All-Star, the Mets certainly need Lindor on the field if they want to upset expectations and bounce back this year.
The ball club is set to enter the contest on Saturday with a 34-41 record. They are in last place in the National League East standings. New York trails the Atlanta Braves by 13.5 games for first place in the NL East.
Updates on Francisco Lindor’s injury recovery will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available. Meanwhile, the Mets will play the Phillies in Philadelphia in the second contest of a three-game series on Saturday night at 7:15 PM EST. New York leads the series after earning a 6-4 win on Thursday.
