Bucks’ Kyle Kuzma defends his honor against Giannis Antetokounmpo trade ‘throw-in’ allegations

The entire NBA world is on edge to see if the Milwaukee Bucks will finally trade Giannis Antetokounmpo before Tuesday’s NBA Draft, or if this is yet another false alarm. The Boston Celtics and Miami Heat seem to have separated themselves from the pack as the top two candidates to acquire the star, although most fans likely won’t believe it until they see it at this point.

Some have speculated that Kyle Kuzma could also be on the move along with Giannis to wherever he goes next, but recently, the forward fought back against the narrative that he is just a “throw-in” for a potential trade.

“Since when is a 6’9 wing who plays any role you ask, guards 1–5, shot almost 50% from the field and cares about defense a ‘throw‑in’? lol” wrote Kuzma on X, formerly Twitter, quote tweeting a post from Fullcourtpass.

Kuzma has not had a successful tenure with the Bucks, seeing a decline in his shooting numbers and not exactly providing elite defense to the squad. Still, some of his past unfortunate moments have made him somewhat of a low-hanging fruit for those looking to get a joke off, so it’s understandable that Kuzma would be frustrated about being viewed simply as a filler piece of the trade and nothing more.

However, the centerpiece of any potential deal will undoubtedly be Antetokounmpo, who remains one of the top five players in the game win healthy, although the injury issue has become quite the caveat over the last few seasons. If the Bucks do finally trade the star, expect the team to fully embrace a rebuild for the first time in over a decade and look to turn the page to a new era.
