Grizzlies rumors: The sneaky trade Memphis could make amid Ja Morant buzz

The Memphis Grizzlies are just over 24 hours away from the 2026 NBA Draft, where they will have the number three overall pick. The Grizzlies have been shrouded in trade buzz throughout this season, most notably involving point guard Ja Morant, whom they reportedly tried to deal at the deadline this past season.

Recently, NBA insider Jake Fischer reported on another name that has come up in trade discussions involving the Grizzlies.

“While the Grizzlies weigh trade offers for Ja Morant and the decision at No. 3, I’ve also heard several teams have expressed interest in trading for Euroleague star Tarik Biberovic, whose draft rights are held by the Grizzlies. Biberovic, 25, shot 44% from distance for Fenerbahce over the past three seasons and led them to the 2025 Euroleague title,” reported Fischer on X, formerly Twitter.

Biberovic was selected by the Grizzlies in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft but has spent the ensuing time overseas. At 25 years old, and with the Euroleague credentials outlined by Fischer, he certainly appears to be an enticing prospect, and it will be interesting to see what kind of return package the Grizzlies could get in exchange for his rights.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if there are any legitimate trade suitors on the market for Morant, who suffered through a brutal 2025-26 season marred by shooting slumps, injury concerns, and unsubtle jabs at the coaching staff in the media. All of these factors essentially rendered Morant’s trade value at zero heading into the deadline last year, when Memphis dealt Jaren Jackson Jr. but ultimately ended up keeping Morant.

When healthy, the star remains an electric point guard capable of filling up arenas, but it’s unclear if other teams think the juice is worth the squeeze at this point in his career.
