With the Brooklyn Nets preparing for the 2026 NBA Draft, which starts on Tuesday night, the team has to make a decision when it comes to the No. 6 overall pick. As rumors surround the Nets ahead of the NBA Draft, there is a player who could be targeted if the team goes ahead and acquires an extra first-round pick.
ClutchPoints’ NBA insider Brett Siegel spoke about the Nets, among other topics in his NBA Draft Big Board, and said that Brooklyn has been “exploring ways to possibly acquire another top-15 pick in this year’s draft.” With Tennessee’s Nate Ament a target at No. 6, if they can get another pick, Karim Lopez is a wing that’s said to be a target.
“In the event that they do so, Karim Lopez is said to be another wing besides Ament that Brooklyn has been linked to throughout the pre-draft process,” Siegel wrote.
Another interesting player that could be available for Brooklyn at No. 6 is talented Louisville guard Mikel Brown Jr., who the Nets “certainly like,” per Siegel, though he could go as high as No. 5 to the Los Angeles Clippers.
However, if he were to fall to No. 6, “the majority of league personnel who spoke with ClutchPoints over the weekend believe Brown would be Sean Marks’ selection over Nate Ament and [Illinois’ Keaton] Wagler.”
Other notes on the Nets ahead of the 2026 NBA Draft
Looking at the Nets’ plans for the NBA Draft, Siegel would report that it has been “hard to get a definitive read on whether the Nets like Wagler.” As with him likely to be there for the No. 6 pick, Brooklyn could be considering trading down to the eight to 12 range to get a player like Ament, Morez Johnson Jr., or Aday Mara,
If not, the Nets would just stand pat and take Ament, with Siegel saying that the team “could seriously pass on Wagler.” At any rate, it remains to be seen what happens on Tuesday night and what Brooklyn decides to do with the No. 6 pick.
