It has been nothing short of a whirlwind weekend for former NHL All-Star Keith Tkachuk, who not only saw his son Brady Tkachuk traded to the Florida Panthers to play with his brother Matthew, but now, he’s learned that he’ll be enshrined in hockey immortality.
Keith Tkachuk was named to the Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2026, joining fellow former players Patrice Bergeron of the Boston Bruins, Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens, Pekka Rinne of the Nashville Predators, and former executive Brian Burke.
Keith Tkachuk, who was drafted by the original Winnipeg Jets with the 19th overall pick in the 1990 NHL Draft, has been known by the nickname “Walter” for decades now. In 1,201 career NHL games with the Jets/Coyotes, St. Louis Blues, and Atlanta Thrashers, Tkachuk scored 538 goals with 527 assists, while also contributing 28 goals and 28 assists in 89 postseason games.
While the elder Tkachuk unfortunately never won the Stanley Cup during his playing days, Matthew has a pair of Stanley Cup rings from winning back-to-back seasons with the Panthers in 2024 and 2025. Now that Brady has joined him, the Panthers are clearly announcing to the NHL that missing the postseason this past season was an anomaly, and they’re going for it again. The entire Tkachuk family was reportedly together to celebrate Father’s Day when news of the trade of Brady to the Panthers broke.
That, combined with knowing that his two sons are now playing on the same NHL team, made for quite the weekend for the newest Hockey Hall of Fame forward.
