Mets’ Carlos Mendoza lays out next step in Francisco Lindor injury recovery

With the New York Mets coming off the series loss to the Philadelphia Phillies, fans have been wondering about updates regarding star Francisco Lindor and his calf injury. As Lindor looks to make an injury recovery for the Mets, manager Carlos Mendoza provides a crucial update.

Speaking before the start of the series against the Chicago Cubs on Monday night, Mendoza was asked about the plan with Lindor, saying that he will be doing a rehab game at Triple-A on Tuesday, and then New York will “reassess” after.

“He’s going to play for Syracuse tomorrow, I think they’re at Lehigh Valley, so he’ll play one more tomorrow, and we’ll reassess after the game and see what’s next for him,” Mendoza said, via SNY Mets.

As Lindor has also been doing simulated workouts with New York, the weather on Monday has delayed that from happening, though Mendoza mentioned that he still did a “high-intensity workout.”

“Obviously, because of the weather,” Mendoza said in response to whether Lindor did any simulation on Monday. “But he’s going to be doing a high-intensity workout today with baseball and everything that he does that he’s able to do inside.”

Whether an off-day will be needed for Lindor after the rehab game on Tuesday is yet to be determined, as Mendoza mentioned that discussions will be had regarding the star’s return.

“We’ll see. We’ll see whether you know he needs a day off. Is he ready to come? Just gotta wait, get through tomorrow, and we’ll have those discussions,” Mendoza said.

At any rate, it remains to be seen when Lindor will come back, as the last game he played was on April 22, with the 32-year-old recording a .226 batting average to go along with two home runs and five RBIs in 24 games.
