Switzerland vs. Canada 2026 World Cup predictions, odds, pick

It is game three of the Group Stage in Group B at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It is the two top teams in the group as Canada faces Switzerland. Both teams come in with one win and one draw on the campaign. Now the two will face off in Vancouver in their third fixture. It is time to continue our World Cup odds series with a Switzerland-Canada prediction and pick.

Switzerland struggled in the first game of the Group Stage. They scored in the 17th minute, but it was on a penalty kick, knocked in by Breel Embolo. Qatar would equalize the game in stoppage time of the second half with a goal from Miro Muheim, which led to the draw. While Switzerland was dominant in the first game and only came away with the draw, they left no doubt in game two.

Switzerland took time to find its first goal against Bosnia-Herzegovina, but they found it in the 74th minute. John Manzambi scored in the 74th minute to break a scoreless match. From there, Taik Muharemovic would get a red card for Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Switzerland would score three more goals, including a penalty from Granit Xhaka. Bosnia-Herzegovina found the back of the net once in a 4-1 match.

Meanwhile, Canada also started slowly in this World Cup. They gave up a goal to Bosnia-Herzegovina in the 21st minute to Jovo Lukic. Canada struggled to find a consistent attack in the game, but would find the back of the net in the 78th minute, scoring on a goal from Cyle Larin. Still, the game would end in a 1-1 draw. Canada rebounded, though.

Canada was dominant against Qatar. It opened up a goal from Larin, before the first goal of the fixture from Jonathan David in the 19th minute. There would be a red card to Homam Ahmed in the 33rd minute, and Canada took off from there. David scored again in stoppage time in the first half, before two more goals in the second half. Qatar took another red card in the second half, but David completed his hat-trick in the second half, scoring in stoppage time and winning 6-0.

Keys to Switzerland vs. Canada Matchup

One of the first keys to the game is how Canada deals with the injury to Ismael Kone. He broke his leg against Qatar, and it was a tragic incident for Canada. Nathan Saliba will be a likely replacement and needs to perform well in this game. Meanwhile, tactics will change for Canada without their midfielder. Still, Canada needs to limit chances. They gave up eight shots, with three on goal against Bosnia-Herzegovina. That led to a .98 expected goals, which is too much against a team like Bosnia-Herzegovina. They did much better against Qatar, with just a .22 epxected goals against and two shots overall.  Still, if they cannot slow down Switzerland, which had an expected goal value against Bosnia-Herzegovina.

For Switzerland, it is all about keeping attacking. They did that against Qatar, even though they scored just one goal. They had an expected goal value of 3.24 with 26 shots and seven on goal. Switzerland converted on chances against Bosnia-Herzegovina, with a 2.06 expected goals against. They managed to score four times, but also much of that was due to a red card from Bosnia-Herzegovina. Overall, Switzerland has shown to be the better attack, but they need to make sure they convert, which is something they struggled with so far.

Switzerland vs. Canada Prediction and Pick

Group B comes down to this game. Canada and Switzerland both advance with a draw in this game. A draw places Switzerland in second, and Canada wins the group. The winner of the group gets a third place matchip ahaint a third place them in Groups E, F, G, H, or I. Meanwhile, the runner-up in the group will need to face the runner-up in Group A, which is likely South Korea. Playing against the likes of Ecuador, Sweden, Iran, Cape Verde, and Senegal is a much better situation than playing against South Korea.

Still, losing the game could be a disaster for a team. Currently, the projection is that a team with four points in third place will get in, according to The Athletic.  Switzerland beat Bosnia-Herzegovina, so if Bosnia-Herzegovina beats Qatar, Switzerland is in second unless they win. If that happens and Switzerland wins, it comes down to goal differential. Goal differential comes into play if Canada beats Switzerland and Qatar beats Bosnia-Herzegovina. The third-place team in this group is likely to face Germany or the United States if they qualify, so avoiding third is huge.

Considering the games are at the same time, there can be little gamesmanship. With that, the two teams will go full bore. There will be a winner here, and the best bet is over 2.5 goals, but Switzerland is the better team and will get the win.
