North Carolina football is creating a College Football Recruiting surge. The Tar Heels already landed four-star wide receiver Amare Patterson before Father’s Day weekend ended. But now UNC and Bill Belichick flipped a recent Deion Sanders, Colorado recruit Monday.
The past Super Bowl winning head coach changed the mind of three-star offensive lineman Jaiden Lindsay. The guard/tackle took to social media to announce his decision.
Colorado and Coach Prime have been on their own recruiting heater for the summer. Sanders and his coaching staff won over the likes of four-star safety Gabe Jenkins, fellow four-star and former South Carolina wide receiver commit Jaiden Kelly-Murray, plus flipped Ole Miss four-star offensive lineman Coderro McDaniel.
So is the latter the real reason why Lindsay dipped out of his Colorado pledge? North Carolina didn’t officially enter the picture until the week of June 15. Turns out Belichick and members of his own coaching staff did enough to win over the 6-foot-4, 300-pounder, though.
Belichick now adds his fifth different offensive lineman for 2027: Lindsay, Shavezz Dixon, Hudson Ingalsbe, Neal Roberts and Lauifi Tosi. And North Carolina earns a significant flip here amid an up-and-down recruiting cycle.
Transfer portal addition at quarterback Taron Dickens left Chapel Hill on May 29, before throwing a single pass for Belichick. An unnamed Atlantic Coast Conference coach even ripped Belichick for his evaluation abilities at the college level.
Belichick faces more scrutiny that ever in 2026 as he enters a pivotal second CFB season. His 2025 team did little to win over fans, boosters and the alums after going 4-8. But now Belichick is aiming to deliver a big recruiting charge during the summer.
