Former Warriors target Giannis Antetokounmpo reportedly traded to Miami Heat originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
At long last, it’s over.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, after months — and even years — of trade rumors, is on the move.
The Milwaukee Bucks are trading the two-time NBA MVP, along with Bobby Portis, to the Miami Heat in a blockbuster deal, receiving Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks (including No. 1), one pick swap and one second-rounder, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Monday night, citing sources.
The massive, yet expected, trade ends months of speculation about where Antetokounmpo will play next after it became clear late in the 2025-26 NBA season that his tenure with the Bucks would end this summer.
Antetokounmpo was on the market in the weeks leading up to the league’s Feb. 5 trade deadline before ultimately staying put, and has been a rumored Warriors target for years, with Golden State making an aggressive offer to the Bucks this season for the 10-time NBA All-Star.
Golden State reportedly used to dream of one day pairing Antetokounmpo with superstar Steph Curry, and after pushing hard to land him four months ago, did not appear to be involved much, if at all, in discussions with Milwaukee this summer.
Now he begins the next chapter of his illustrious career with the Heat.
