After months of rumors and speculation, the Milwaukee Bucks have officially agreed to a trade sending superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat. The deal is expected to be finalized in the coming days, but Antetokounmpo will be joining the Heat after winning two MVP’s and an NBA Finals MVP award in 2021.
Before the Bucks agreed to trade Giannis to the Heat, however, a couple of teams were bidding for Antetokounmpo’s services. The Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves were a couple of teams that the forward was open to signing extensions with, with Boston make a legitimate late push for the star.
According to ESPN, the Celtics offered the Bucks a package for Giannis Antetokounmpo centered around Jaylen Brown and a pair of first round picks, although the specifics on the picks are unknown at this time.

The Milwaukee Bucks ultimately decided to go with the Miami Heat’s package of Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez, Kel’el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks, one pick swap, and one second-round pick.
Miami will add Antetokounmpo to an incomplete roster that currently features players like Bam Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins, Davion Mitchell, and Pelle Larsson.
Giannis Antetokounmpo finishes his 13-year career with the Milwaukee Bucks averaging 24.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game in 895 regular season appearances. He leaves an NBA Champion, an NBA Finals MVP, a two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, a Defensive Player of the Year, a 10-time NBA All-Star, and a nine-time All-NBA selection.
Pat Riley and Co. get their big fish, but the work now shifts towards building a championship level roster around their two All-Stars in Antetokounmpo and Adebayo, with things likely starting with unrestricted free agent Norman Powell.
