Dodgers’ Dave Roberts’ delivers immediate Kyle Tucker, Dalton Rushing injury updates

After getting some good news with the return of Brock Stewart from IL, the injury bug struck the Los Angeles Dodgers in a major way on Monday in Minnesota, with Kyle Tucker and Dalton Rushing exiting the Twins showdown.

Talking to reporters after the game, Dave Roberts addressed Tucker first, noting that because his star right fielder has experienced this before in the past, he isn’t too worried about it being a long-term injury.

“I’m not overly concerned,” Roberts noted. “Obviously, with the back, you got to be mindful, but he said he’s had it before, and he played the next day, or  I think he’s taking a day off, so I think for me, it’s just day-to-day. We’ll see how he is when he comes in tomorrow.”

Roberts even addressed Rushing, who left the game to enter concussion protocol. Despite his early absence at the behest of the team’s trainers, Rushing passed his first concussion test but could still miss Tuesday’s game all the same.

“He’s doing well. He’s doing well. He passed the protocol test, but I guess you got to do it again in 24 hours,” Roberts noted. “So tomorrow we’ll do the same thing, but I would say it’s pretty unlikely. He’ll be in there tomorrow just to potentially give him another day. We’ll bring someone out here just in case we are gonna bring someone just to kind of guard against that, but I’m not sure who.”

With Will Smith still recovering from an injury of his own, it will be interesting to see how the Dogers handle the catching spot on Tuesday if Rushing is unable to take the field. Does Andrew Friedman still have Ben Rortvedt ‘s number now that he’s a member of the New York Mets Triple-A affiliate?
