Brittney Griner reached the mountaintop of one of the WNBA’s all-time lists, becoming the all-time shot blocker during the Connecticut Sun’s matchup against the Chicago Sky on Monday night.
Griner is going through the 13th season of her WNBA career, her first with the Sun. While she is past her prime years, Griner continues to be productive as a veteran player in the league with her talents as a scorer and defender.
Going into Connecticut’s clash with Chicago, Griner had racked up 874 blocks throughout her career. This placed her inside the top three among the all-time leading shot blockers in history. She needed four more rejections to get to the top spot, something she managed to achieve.
In 22 minutes of action, Griner finished with a stat line of 14 points, eight rebounds, four blocks, and three assists. She shot 6-of-10 from the field and 2-of-3 from the free-throw line.
