Last night, on Monday Jun. 22, 2026, Argentina’s Lionel Messi created history by surpassing Miroslav Klose’s FIFA World Cup record. With 17 World Cup goals now, Messi currently ranks as the highest World Cup goal scorer. While the night was filled with joy for Messi and his Argentina teammates, the same cannot be said for social media celebrity IShowSpeed.
During his livestream at the Dallas Stadium for Argentina’s 2026 World Cup Group J match against Austria, the self-proclaimed Cristiano Ronaldo superfan was there to see Messi lead his team to victory. “Speed” has remained loyal to “CR7” since day one, which meant that he wasn’t too pleased when Messi broke Klose’s record.
Although a missed penalty from Messi earlier in the game meant delight for IShowSpeed. The 21-year-old was spotted celebrating Messi missing a penalty against Austria with a backflip. However, his celebrations did not last long.
In the 38th minute of the match, Messi scored his 17th World Cup career goal. Messi, 38, now has the most goals in the history of the FIFA World Cup, although France captain Kylian Mbappé is not far behind. Karma hit “Speed” hard as he looked sad and emotional after witnessing Messi’s 38th-minute goal and realizing the record “LM10” had broken.
Argentina is currently experiencing an extremely successful World Cup campaign with two back-to-back wins and a goal-filled tournament for Messi. However, the same cannot be said for IShowSpeed’s idol Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo’s Portugal faced a draw against DR Congo and is now set to face Uzbekistan in their second match of the tournament.
