Bryce Harper’s gesture caught on camera before Brandon Marsh HR

An incredible moment took place on Monday night during the Philadelphia Phillies-Washington Nationals game. Phillies star Bryce Harper was seen giving a pep talk to teammate Brandon Marsh. Right after that, Marsh blasted a home run.

The MLB’s X account shared some video of the players’ discussion.

That home run turned out to be the only offense for the Phillies on Monday. Philadelphia dropped the game to the Nationals, 4-1.

Marsh now has 10 home runs on the season, to go with 36 RBIs. He hit a solo shot on Monday in the seventh inning. The Phillies are 42-36 on the season, after Monday’s loss.

Marsh had been struggling prior to that plate appearance. He was 0-for-14 against left-handed pitching in the past few games, per NBC Sports Philadelphia, before hitting that blast.

Harper is known as a leader for this team. He certainly showed that on Monday, giving his teammate a pep talk. This season, Harper is batting at a .269 average. He has 17 home runs and 44 RBIs.

The Phillies have seen a resurgence under interim manager Don Mattingly. After a brutal losing streak near the start of the year, Mattingly was picked to manage the team. He replaced Rob Thomson, who was fired.

Philadelphia has surged since that change. The team is now second in the National League East. Philadelphia is now only six and a half games behind the Atlanta Braves for first in the division, heading into Tuesday’s action.

Philadelphia plays the Nationals again on Tuesday night. Phillies fans hope that Harper is able to keep encouraging his club.
