One of the key players in the England World Cup squad, Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka, possibly received a major injury blow ahead of their game against Ghana. With just hours left for England’s crucial Ghana game, Saka potentially suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury.
Since Mar. 2026, Saka has been dealing with an Achilles tendon problem. This almost equates to three months of careful fitness management heading into one of the world’s biggest soccer tournaments. Saka played through the Premier League and UEFA Champions League with his injury.
Now, just hours before England’s Ghana match, Manager Thomas Tuchel announced that all players, including Bukayo Saka, are available for selection. Speaking to reporters on Monday, Jun. 22, 2026, Tuchel shared that the squad had no injury concerns, and all players had trained without restrictions. “Everyone is available, everyone was in training,” he said.
“Bukayo [Saka] is getting better and better. He’s more and more free in his movements. He feels no more pain. He was able to do both our training sessions the last two days on the highest level,” Tuchel added while describing Saka’s physical condition. “So he’s ready to go without telling you if he will start on the bench.”
Saka resumed full training with England in Foxborough, Massachusetts, after initially training alone with the medical staff. This came after his 18-minute substitute appearance in England’s 4-2 win against Croatia in Dallas.
Saka, 24, plays a key role in the English squad and will work as a significant boost for the team against the strong Ghana team. England currently leads Group L. They are scheduled to face Ghana before concluding group-stage matches against Panama.
