Paige Bueckers had a historic Monday night, helping the Dallas Wings rally past the Seattle Storm 112-110 in overtime while reaching a major career milestone.
Bueckers scored 27 points and recorded her 1,000th career point during overtime as Dallas improved to 11-6 on the season, as reported by The Associated Press. The milestone basket gave the Wings a 109-108 lead and made Bueckers the fourth-fastest player in WNBA history to reach 1,000 career points, tying Elena Delle Donne by accomplishing 1,000 points in 52 games.
Dallas trailed 94-88 with 1:24 remaining in regulation before Bueckers took over offensively. She scored the Wings’ final eight points of regulation, including back-to-back 3-pointers, to help force overtime. She ultimately scored 17 of Dallas’ final 24 points.
Azzi Fudd added a career-high 26 points, including a go-ahead layup with 13.2 seconds left in overtime that put Dallas ahead 111-110. After Jessica Shepard came up with a steal, Aziaha James added a free throw to provide the final margin.
James finished with 18 points off the bench, while Shepard added 14 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Dallas also set a WNBA record with 48 made field goals.
Seattle pushed Dallas throughout the night despite entering the game on a losing streak. Rookie center Dominique Malonga recorded a career-high 37 points and 12 rebounds. The 20-year-old also became the youngest player in WNBA history to reach 200 career field goals at 20 years and 219 days old.
Natisha Hiedeman added 21 points and 11 assists for the Storm, while Awa Fam scored 18 points.
The loss was Seattle’s 11th consecutive l0ss.
Dallas will next visit the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday, while the Storm return home to face the New York Liberty.
