Bucks rumors: Myles Turner on trade watch after Giannis Antetokounmpo trade to Heat

The Milwaukee Bucks may not be finished reshaping their roster following the blockbuster trade that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat.

According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, veteran center Myles Turner is a player whose future should now be monitored closely after Milwaukee acquired young big man Kel’el Ware as part of the Antetokounmpo deal.

The Bucks received Ware, Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis and multiple draft assets from Miami in exchange for Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis. The addition of Ware gives Milwaukee another promising frontcourt option and could impact Turner’s long-term role with the organization.

“Myles Turner’s future should also be discussed now that Milwaukee traded for Ware,” Marks wrote.

“Signed last offseason, Turner has three years and $84 million remaining on his contract.”

Turner arrived in Milwaukee last offseason and provided the Bucks with an experienced two-way presence in the middle. The veteran center has built a reputation as one of the NBA’s premier shot blockers while also offering floor spacing on the offensive end.

However, Milwaukee’s direction has changed dramatically following the departure of Antetokounmpo. With the franchise now focused on a new core featuring Herro, Ware and several younger assets, the Bucks could evaluate whether Turner remains part of their long-term plans.

Ware’s arrival is particularly noteworthy given his age and upside. The young center was viewed as one of Miami’s most promising developmental pieces before being included in the Antetokounmpo trade package.

For now, there is no indication that a Turner trade is imminent. Marks simply identified the veteran center as a player worth monitoring as Milwaukee continues assessing its roster following one of the most significant trades in franchise history.

With three years remaining on his contract and a skill set valued throughout the league, Turner could attract interest if the Bucks decide to explore additional moves in the wake of the Antetokounmpo era coming to an end.
