Recently, the Milwaukee Bucks shook up the NBA world by trading Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat in exchange for a treasure trove of young players and draft assets. One of those assets was the number 13 pick in this year’s NBA Draft, which is slated to take place on Tuesday night in Brooklyn.
Now, ClutchPoints’ NBA insider Brett Siegel has revealed that the Bucks have interest in Louisville standout guard Mikel Brown Jr. in this draft class, who he recently projected to be selected at number six overall by the Brooklyn Nets, who have had discussions about trading that pick.
“… another team with heavy interest in Brown is the Bucks. Could they look to package the 10th and 13th picks to move up into this spot for Brown? This is doubtful to happen, but anything is possible on draft night,” reported Siegel.
If the Bucks stay with their current picks, Siegel projects them to take Tennessee wing Nate Ament at number 10 and Baylor guard Cameron Carr at number 13. Packaging number 10 and 13 to move up would certainly be an enticing prospect for general manager Jon Horst and company, especially as they’ve clearly embraced a full rebuild by taking the Heat’s offer for Giannis, as opposed to going after more of a win-now player like Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics.
Adding Mikel Brown Jr. to the mix would give Milwaukee a strong point guard prospect to build around moving forward, although the backcourt rotation could start to get clogged, with Ryan Rollins, Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and more all needing minutes.
In any case, the NBA Draft is slated to get underway on Tuesday at 8:00 pm ET.
