Knicks rumors: NBA Draft intel highlights Darius Acuff Jr. teammate, intriguing draft-and-stash option

The New York Knicks are still coming off the high of winning the 2026 NBA Finals, which they took in five games against the San Antonio Spurs. The Knicks have some big decisions to make this offseason in free agency but figure to bring back essentially the same core of players as they look to repeat next year.

Recently, ClutchPoints NBA insider Brett Siegel released his final mock before the 2026 NBA Draft on Tuesday night, and he projected them to take guard Meleek Thomas out of Arkansas with the number 24 overall pick.

“…Meleek Thomas has been linked to the Knicks and has spent a ton of time with the organization’s leadership, including attending multiple playoff games at Madison Square Garden,” reported Siegel.

Thomas played his college basketball at Arkansas alongside star freshman Darius Acuff, who is expected to be among the first names taken off the board on Tuesday.

However, that’s not the only name the Knicks have on their radar.

“…The Knicks are also said to be considering Sergio De Larrea as a draft-and-stash option if they keep the 24th pick,” he reported.

While draft and stash players typically fall closer to the second round zone, it speaks volumes about the strong roster that New York has assembled that they are able to take a swing on such a prospect in the first.

Over the next few weeks, the Knicks will need to make decisions on players like Landry Shamet and Mitchell Robinson, each of whom played a big role in their title run and will hit free agency next month.

In any case, the NBA Draft is slated to get underway on Tuesday at 8:00 pm ET from across the bridge in Brooklyn.
