After losing the NBA Finals to the New York Knicks, the San Antonio Spurs now focus on continuing to build the roster to compete for a championship again next season. The club owns the No. 20 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, giving the club a chance to acquire a talented prospect with that selection. But who is the front office intrigued by?
In Brett Siegel’s latest NBA Mock Draft 5.0, the NBA insider claims the Spurs are highly interested in three prospects at pick No. 20. The three incoming rookies who have been linked to San Antonio are Houston Cougars center Chris Cenac Jr., Santa Clara Broncos power forward Allen Graves, and Texas Longhorns wing Dailyn Swain.
“Sources say San Antonio is looking at a few different players in this spot already, with Cenac, Graves, and Swain frequently mentioned,” wrote Siegel.
Siegel mocked the Spurs selecting Cenac over the other two prospects mentioned, claiming that San Antonio is the perfect spot for the former Houston star to develop his game as Victor Wembanyama’s backup. He also compared Chris Cenac Jr.’s style of play to that of Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duran.
“While Chris Cenac Jr. still needs time to reach his full potential, which could very well be a similar skill set to Jalen Duren, he would immediately benefit from playing behind Victor Wembanyama and in a system that allows him to display his mobility as a big man,” Siegel said.
While Cenac, Graves, and Swain are rumored to be linked to the Spurs at No. 20 overall, rumors also claim the front office could be interested in trading up to picks 15, 16, or 17 for former Michigan Wolverines star Yaxel Lendeborg, per Siegel. San Antonio and Detroit are the two organizations rumored to be interested in the 23-year-old forward.
“In the event that he falls out of the lottery, multiple teams will have interest in trading with the Bulls (#15), Grizzlies (#16), and possibly the Thunder (#17) to try and get Lendeborg,” claimed Siegel. “As reported weeks ago on Clutchpoints, two teams with trade-up interest: Spurs and Pistons.”
