Blue Jays’ Ernie Clement gets encouraging injury update despite not playing vs. Astros

Toronto Blue Jays star Ernie Clement is currently dealing with a hip injury. However, it does not seem as if the issue is too serious. Hazel Mae shared a report after Blue Jays manager John Schneider provided an update on Clement’s injury before Tuesday’s game against the Houston Astros.

“Ernie Clement not in starting lineup due to a hip issue: Schneider said he’s ‘trying to get ahead of it and give him a breather with quick turnaround today. Didn’t want him to take a step back.’ Clement is available off the bench if needed,” Mae reported.

Clement has become one of the better players in the league. The 30-year-old is currently hitting .293/.314/.439 to go along with seven home runs and a league leading 20 doubles.

Toronto will continue to closely monitor Ernie Clement’s injury status. Updates will be provided as they are made available.

Meanwhile, Shane Bieber is set to make his season debut on Tuesday after missing the first portion of the season due to injury. The former Cy Young winner was acquired by the ball club a season ago. He re-signed with the Blue Jays this past offseason and could make a significant impact for the remainder of the ’26 campaign.

At 39-39 overall, Toronto is hopeful that Bieber can provide a crucial boost.

The ball game on Tuesday night between the Blue Jays and Astros is scheduled for 4:07 PM EST. Toronto leads the series 1-0 after earning a 4-2 victory on Monday night. The Blue Jays can clinch a series win with another victory on Tuesday.
