Grizzlies rumors: Cameron Boozer on way at No. 3, but is there also a trade lined up?

With the Memphis Grizzlies preparing for the 2o26 NBA Draft, as it starts on Tuesday night, the team holds the No. 3 overall pick, with many people debating who the selection will be. As rumors will continue around the Grizzlies on who the top pick will be, the name being brought up the most is Duke star Cameron Boozer.

ClutchPoints’ NBA insider Brett Siegel spoke about the Grizzlies in his final mock draft before the start of the event, saying that Boozer “will be the third pick” after BYU’s AJ Dybanysa and Kansas’ Darryn Peterson are the first two selections. While “there was some chatter” about North Carolina’s Caleb Wilson overtaking Boozer, Memphis is “thrilled” to add someone like Boozer to the team.

“Not only does this team already have established young pieces Boozer can play off of during their rebuild, like Jaylen Wells and Cedric Coward, but he would enter a system that already has an established big man in Zach Edey. Memphis would be elite on the glass, Edey would support Boozer’s all-around skill on both ends, and the Grizzlies would all of a sudden have a lot of length and athleticism,” Siegel wrote.

The Grizzlies could be in business for the first round

With the Grizzlies surrounded by rumors with the NBA Draft and trades involving star Ja Morant, Santi Aldama, and their No. 16 pick, Siegel would report that there is “no talk” of Memphis moving off the third pick. However, there is interest from them in trading up from No 16.

“Another team said to have interest in trading up in this year’s draft is the Grizzlies from the 16th pick. Could they maybe consider a deal with the Warriors in the No. 11 spot, especially since Golden State hasn’t turned away from the possibility of trading down? The Grizzlies are making virtually all of their players outside of their young core available in trade talks, including 25-year-old big man Santi Aldama, sources said,” Siegel wrote/

At any rate, it remains to be seen what the Grizzlies decide to do, as it’ll be figured out on Tuesday night.
