The Florida Panthers are making a play to win their third Stanley Cup championship in four years. Florida is uniting the Tkachuk brothers, with Brady Tkachuk now a Panther. Tkachuk revealed that he will be wearing the no. 8 with Florida.
“For me, we joke around….I definitely see myself as a single-digit guy…..my dad wore 8 in Atlanta, so I thought it could be a tribute to him as well,” Tkachuk said at his introductory press conference on Tuesday.
Tkachuk was traded from the Ottawa Senators to the Panthers, where he will play with his brother Matthew. Interestingly, their dad Keith is getting inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
“It’s been a great weekend for the Tkachuks,” Keith said, per ESPN. “It’s been a crazy weekend, but this tops it off. … This is the ultimate, for sure.”
Brady joins a Panthers team looking to rebuild after a disappointing 2025-26 campaign. The Panthers missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs, after winning back-to-back Stanley Cup titles.
“I feel like it’s the closest group in the league, everybody is just doing stuff together,” Brady said about Florida at the presser. “…Everybody is a part of the puzzle. Everybody, their sole focus is winning.”
During the 2025-26 regular season, Brady posted 59 points for Ottawa. He helped the team reach the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Senators ended up losing in the postseason to the Carolina Hurricanes.
In his career, Brady has 463 career regular season points. He has spent his entire career in Ottawa.
“Tkachuk has reached 20 goals in seven of his eight total NHL campaigns, posting three straight seasons with at least 30 tallies from 2021-22 to 2023-24,” the Panthers said in a release.
Panthers fans are excited to see what the Tkachuk brothers can do together moving forward.
