NBA rumors: Hawks trade buzz gets even louder right before draft, with Bucks twist

As the NBA Draft approaches, the Atlanta Hawks appear poised to move the No. 8 pick. Multiple reports have indicated that Atlanta is open to trading the selection, with Jonathan Wasserman reporting as much on X.

“Few hours before the draft, Atlanta Hawks a team that sounds pretty active in trade talks at #8, per multiple sources,” Wasserman posted.

ClutchPoints senior NBA reporter Brett Siegel also reported that Atlanta has been involved in significant trade discussions surrounding both the No. 8 and No. 23 picks. He also linked the Hawks to a specific prospect.

“Do not be shocked if the Hawks move the 8th pick. There is a lot of talk right now that they’re the team in the top 10 who have been discussing trades the most today. Brayden Burries remains a dark-horse candidate for Atlanta either at No. 8 or in a trade-down scenario.”

Siegel also identified the Milwaukee Bucks as a potential trade partner if the Hawks decide to move down in the draft.

“If Atlanta does look to move down and target Burries, keep an eye on them striking a deal with Milwaukee at No. 10. The Bucks have been trying to grab one of the top guards (Flemings) in this class. Of course, Dallas at No. 9, a Burries suitor, adds a layer of mystery here.”

Following the blockbuster trade that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat, the Bucks appear to remain active ahead of the draft. Jake Fischer reported on X that Milwaukee has explored packaging its picks in an effort to move up in the first round.

“I do believe Milwaukee has tried to package Nos. 10 and 13 to move up in tonight’s first round, but I don’t believe there’s going to be any trades in the top-10.”
