Kendrick Perkins names Darius Acuff Jr. his ‘best point guard’ in 2026 NBA Draft

The 2026 NBA Draft has ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins hyped. Before Wednesday’s festivities at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, the former Oklahoma City Thunder big man showed excitement over one prospect, Arkansas Razorbacks basketball product Darius Acuff Jr.

“Let me take you down memory lane. I got some film. You know what I mean? I want to pull up because I need the world to know how special Darius Acuff Jr. is on that basketball floor,” Perkins prefaced his praise for Acuff, who was also on the set of ESPN’s draft coverage.

“When you talk about a three-level score, when you talk about a guy 6’2 that’s going to get a bucket NBA ready, elite offensive player being able to create off the bounce, here it is right here getting to his [midrange],” continued Perkins, as Acuff’s highlights played in the background.”

Apart from Acuff’s ability to get buckets, Perkins praised the guard’s vision and reiterated his claim that the Detroit, Michigan native is the best among all guards looking to hear their name called on Wednesday.

“Elite vision, one of the best point guards in the game of basketball. Check this out. The snake action. Get downhill and one. Listen, bro, I had to remind you why you were the SEC Player of the Year. I got to remind the world why this man, to me, is the best point guard in this year’s draft. I got to remind you why all these GMs been calling me, asking me, saying, Perk, you put the world on notice before everybody else. I said, ‘No, he’s the one who finished the job. For sure.’ I appreciate you. I got real talk.”

In one year in college, Darius Acuff turned a lot of heads, mostly because of his scoring abilities. Through 36 games with the Razorbacks, he averaged 23.5 points, 6.4 assists and 3.1 rebounds, while shooting 48.4 percent from the field and 44.0 percent from behind the arc on 5.8 attempts per deep per contest.
