The 2026 NBA Draft sparks “GOAT” conversations before round one. Not just limited to the trending top pick AJ Dybantsa either. Caleb Wilson enters the Barclays Center as the next first round prospect from North Carolina basketball.
Except the big didn’t hesitate to drop this seven-word motivation in front of ESPN.
“I want to be the greatest ever,” the incoming forward said.

That means he envisions becoming greater than some of the legendary Tar Heels ever, from Michael Jordan to Vince Carter.
Wilson helps spearhead one of the more intriguing foursomes ever to enter the league. Dybantsa out of BYU isn’t the only headliner for this upcoming rookie class. Same with Kansas star Darryn Peterson and Duke standout Cam Boozer, the son of perennial NBA All-Star Carlos. Peterson and Boozer have launched debates on who goes No. 2 overall. Yet some analysts believe both can present arguments for landing as the top overall pick over Dybantsa.
Early projection from ClutchPoints NBA insider Brett Siegel points to Wilson indeed landing in the top five. But here’s this plot twist: The Chicago Bulls take in the UNC star, 42 years after drafting Jordan.
“The Chicago Bulls are locked into taking Caleb Wilson with the fourth pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, which results in new executive Bryson Graham adding yet another lengthy and dynamic athlete to his roster,” Siegel wrote ahead of the draft, who added how Graham is seeking length and dynamic bigs to build this roster.
Wilson rises as the perfect option at fourth overall for both elements. That additionally means forming a tandem with newly acquired Nic Claxton via the Brooklyn Nets.
