The San Francisco Giants are not having the season many had hoped. They are 31-46 and are 18 games behind the rival Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West. They are coming off being swept by the lowly Miami Marlins over the weekend, prompting rumors of the Giants being active at the trade deadline.
Before opening up a three-game set with the Athletics, Giants star Rafael Devers spoke to the media in the locker room.
Suffice it to say, he’s not thrilled with the media these days.
A very candid Rafael Devers after explaining what happened on Sunday to the media…
"The media, in general, you guys just blow everything out of proportion, and I think that's a reflection of why I really don't talk to you guys."

“The media, in general, you guys just blow everything out of proportion, and I think that’s a reflection of why I really don’t talk to you guys,” Devers said in Spanish.
This time, he was specifically responding to the perceived controversy from Sunday’s loss to Miami.
After a ninth-inning walk, the 29-year-old Devers was pulled for a pinch base runner. At first, he appeared to wave the runner off toward manager Tony Vitello. After losing out on the objection, he appeared visibly upset and frustrated in the dugout.
Two batters later, Willy Adames grounded into a game-ending double play.
Afterwards, Devers addressed the situation. He referenced a previous injury and his belief that was the reason for his removal from the game.
Nevertheless, it has been a tenuous stay for the former All-Star in San Francisco.
Since being acquired by the Giants from the Boston Red Sox, Devers’ production has fallen off a cliff.
In the 167 games he has played by the Bay, Devers is hitting just .237. This season, the infielder is hitting .236 with 11 home runs, 36 RBIs and 35 runs scored.
Prior to the trade, the Dominican Republic native was one of the most feared hitters in baseball. From 2019 through 2024, excluding the COVID-shortened 2020 season, Devers averaged 32 home runs and over 105 RBIs per season. The power has not completely disappeared.
But his walk rate has plummeted, seeing his on-base percentage fall to just over .300.
