NEW YORK - The Memphis Grizzlies selected Duke freshman forward Cameron Boozer, the son of former 13-year NBA veteran Carlos Boozer, with the No. 3 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
Before the season, many thought that Cameron Boozer was a lock to be the No. 1 pick, with his size, inside presence, and scoring ability, especially when he spots up when others are creating shots for him. He will have plenty of opportunity to do that in the NBA and averaged 22.5 points and 10.2 rebounds in his one season with the Blue Devils.
Boozer certainly didn't like the talk about where he might go before the draft.
"For me not being in that conversation, I don't really understand it," said Boozer. "I think many years down the line, people are going to look back and say that I should have been."
The Grizzlies have a lot to do this offseason, including deciding a path forward for talented but troubled guard Ja Morant.
Morant is due $42 million and $44 million over the next two seasons and is scheduled to hit free agency in the summer of 2028, but can be dangled for the right package for any team that needs a scoring guard.
