Los Angeles Clippers guard Bradley Beal has plenty on his mind right now, as he recovers from season-ending hip surgery and prepares to make a decision regarding his $5.6 million player option. But those current issues are not preventing the three-time All-Star from getting nostalgic. He revisited the day he officially became a professional basketball player and also offered some well-wishes for the prospects waiting to hear their names called at the 2026 NBA Draft.
“Drafted on my 19th birthday,” Beal posted on X. “It was the coolest feeling. Good luck to all the young men pursuing their dreams tonight!” Turning 33 years old on June 28, the No. 3 pick in the 2012 NBA Draft is making sure to keep perspective at this stage of his career.
Beal was a core member of the last competitive era of Washington Wizards hoops and also averages 21.4 points per game on 46.4 percent shooting, so he has already made a name for himself in this league. The 2020-21 All-NBA Third-Team selection has also endured his share of adversity.
Beal was unable to launch the phoenix Suns into championship contention despite producing efficient numbers, and he then missed out on nearly the entire 2025-26 campaign after suffering yet another injury. His stock has arguably never been lower, but perhaps this is just the motivation he needs during what will be a pivotal offseason.
If the veteran guard opts out of his current deal with the Clippers, he will instantly become one of the most enigmatic players on the free-agent market. Though, no matter what the future holds, Bradley Beal is grateful he has had the opportunity to carry a meaningful role in the NBA for the last decade-plus. He hopes the incoming rookies will have that same mindset.
