A lot of hype and speculation has surrounded this year’s NBA Draft. The Utah Jazz held the No. 2 overall pick on Tuesday night, with many fans hoping that AJ Dybantsa would still be available.
Unfortunately for those fans, the Washington Wizards drafted Dybantsa first overall.
As soon as that happened, someone in attendance at an NBA Draft Watch Party in Utah posted a video of everyone’s reaction. To say it was somber might be an understatement.

As NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced the Wizards’ selection, fans can be heard booing. Some of them are even seen heading for the exits.
Surely, the locals in Utah were holding out hope that the BYU star would stay home. Dybantsa had an absolute monster freshman season with the Cougars. He averaged better than 25 points per game, setting a Big-12 freshman scoring record. He surpassed that of future Hall of Fame and tw0-time NBA Champion Kevin Durant (Texas University).
Instead, the Jazz drafted former Kansas Jayhawk star Darryn Peterson.
Peterson might be the most talented player in the draft this year. Surely, Jay Bilas of ESPN thinks so. His season this past year was filled with controversy, particularly surrounding his availability at Kansas.
