New York Mets star Juan Soto exited the team’s game on Tuesday with an apparent injury. Jorge Castillo of ESPN shared the report on X, formerly Twitter, after the Mets made the move.
“Juan Soto has been taken out of the game to start the fifth inning. He was wearing what looked like a heating pad on his back in the dugout earlier,” Castillo reported.
Soto missed time earlier this season due to a calf injury. He has played at a high level while on the field. New York is obviously hopeful that he will not have to miss too much time after exiting the game on Tuesday.
Although the Mets have struggled this season, Soto has played at an MVP-caliber level. The Mets star entered the game on Tuesday night hitting .301/.398/.575 across 60 games played. Soto also had 17 home runs.
Soto, who finished third in National League MVP voting a season ago, has made a crucial impact to say the least. Updates on Juan Soto’s injury status will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available.
The Mets entered the ball game against the Cubs with an underwhelming 34-43 overall record. New York has not performed up to its preseason expectations to say the least. The ball club is in last place in the National League East standings at the moment.
Tuesday night’s contest represents the first matchup of a four-game series for the Mets against the Cubs at home. Chicago holds a 7-2 lead as of this story’s writing.
