According to Nick DePaula, Darryn Peterson has secured a “massive long-term deal” with Adidas to become the face of their new generation of basketball talent. According to sources, the total valuation for the contract puts Peterson in the top five for richest rookie shoe deals in NBA history.

In a quote obtained by DePaula, Darryn Peterson reacted immediately to the release of the news: “I am grateful for the belief and the trust that Adidas has in me. They were the first to commit to me and showed how much they still believe in me with this new deal. I am a loyal person and am excited to stay in the Adidas family.”

Peterson notably became the first high school athlete to sign an NIL deal when he joined Adidas in 2023 at 16 years old. The loyalty Peterson alluded to has kept him with the three stripes throughout his time as a Kansas Jayhawk, which is also an Adidas-sponsored program.

As a result, Peterson will easily become the highest-paid rookie in this draft class off the court and it’s clear Adidas is committed to building around him for the future of their signature basketball line. Peterson joins top NBA talents like Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards, Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell, and Clippers’ James Harden among others.
