FS1 personality drops dark prediction on Jaylen Brown’s future with Celtics

After nearly being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in a deal headlined by Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jaylen Brown is still a member of the Boston Celtics, who will look to move on from this awkward encounter to hopefully compete for another championship in the future.

Or will they? While discussing Brown’s future on First Things First, FS1’s Danny Parkins explained why he wouldn’t be surprised if the Celtics still move on from their former Finals MVP, as the bridge may be burned at this point.

“I see no way Jaylen Brown plays for the Celtics again. Jaylen Brown said this was the most fun year of his career, and he’s won an NBA championship, but he said he loved being the man. Brad Stevens at the end of the season said, ‘Were we really that good? Like, were we really that close when you break it down?’ So this is not the team from a couple of years ago with Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday, and Al Horford. Like, Brad Stevens, maybe the smartest mind in the NBA outside of Sam Presti, said we weren’t good enough. And Jaylen Brown, I can’t believe he hasn’t been on Twitch yet, you know, demanding a trade. And then the final reason why I think he’s done is he is awesome,” Parkins said.

“And so he is very easy to trade. Like, he has three years and $178 million left on his contract. So you can trade him to anybody. Like, you almost got Giannis for him with a couple of first-round picks. You could have, if you had a bidding war for Jaylen Brown, who finished sixth in MVP, was second team All-NBA, is one of the 10 best two-way players in the league. Portland, Atlanta, Orlando, Houston. I can go down, down the list and give you 17 trades that make sense. I spent like three hours today on the NBA trade machine that I just think if Brad Steven holds an open bidding season on Jaylen Brown, he’s going to get an offer that’ll pull the trigger on.”

On paper, the Celtics can keep Brown and remain as competitive as ever. They didn’t agree to a deal before the 2026 NBA Draft began, and at the time of publication, he hadn’t been moved before the 20th overall pick. And yet, Brown could garner veteran talent as easily as future selections, which means trade watch is still very much on.
