The Oklahoma City Thunder added to their growing draft capital Tuesday. Bennett Stirtz predictably landed with the Memphis Grizzlies at 16th overall. But he didn’t wear the Grizzlies hat for long while swapping places with Aaron Wiggins and adding the Detroit Pistons to the mix.
The three franchises emerged with the more recent massive swap of the night. The Iowa star Stirtz now heads to Mark Daigneault, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and OKC. Memphis obtained the 17th pick in the process plus added two second rounders.

Memphis responded by taking Stanford guard Ebuka Okorie next. But another trade followed, with the Pistons landing him in their trade for the 21st pick and three second round selections. So Detroit lands help for Cade Cunningham in the backcourt following the Pistons’ run to the No. 1 seed of the Eastern Conference.
The Stirtz trade started gaining legs even before the deal occurred, per NBA insider for ClutchPoints Brett Siegel.
“Another team said to have interest in trading up in this year’s draft is the Grizzlies from the 16th pick. Could they maybe consider a deal with the Warriors in the No. 11 spot, especially since Golden State hasn’t turned away from the possibility of trading down? The Grizzlies are making virtually all of their players outside of their young core available in trade talks, including 25-year-old big man Santi Aldama, sources said,” Siegel wrote.
Memphis targeted various guards and ultimately settled on Stirtz before swapping him. Now Stirtz joins Michigan big man Aday Mara (12th overall pick) as the newest Thunder members.
