The Washington Wizards made the clear choice at the 2026 NBA Draft in selected widely-regarding N0. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa of BYU. He became the first freshman to lead the NCAA in scoring since his Wizards’ teammate Trae Young did it back in 2018, joining an exciting core that includes NBA champion Anthony Davis. The Nike athlete was recently honored with a spot that was narrated by rapper and fellow DMV-area icon Wale.

AJ Dybantsa first joined the Nike family in signing a 2024 NIL deal and representing the Swoosh during his time as a BYU Cougar. In a 2026 draft class that’s been regarded as one of the deepest in recent memory, Dybantsa has consistently stood out as the consensus number one overall pick in the eyes of experts.
He sees a multi-year extension from Nike and according to sneaker source Nike DePaula, Dybantsa’s deal with include recent Nike GT sneaker models as well as his own player exclusive editions complete with his signature logo. To celebrate the occassion, Nike released an ad spot honoring their No. 1 overall pick landing in the nation’s capital.

D.C. native Wale narrates the spot over a highlight reel of Dybantsa’s career moments:
