Miami Heat’s Giannis Antetokounmpo did not need long to pop up in public after the biggest move of his career, and the setting was a perfect one. A day after being traded from the Milwaukee Bucks to Miami in a blockbuster deal, Antetokounmpo turned up at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas for Tuesday’s matchup between the Aces and the New York Liberty. He sat courtside near the Aces bench, taking in a game that happened to feature three WNBA MVPs in A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, and Jonquel Jones.
The feel-good highlight came when Stewart made her way over to catch up with the Antetokounmpo family. The two stars shared a warm moment that the WNBA was quick to capture and post, the kind of cross-league respect that travels easily between basketball’s biggest names.

There is a Miami thread running through the whole scene. Antetokounmpo is set to team up with Heat center Bam Adebayo, who happens to be Wilson’s boyfriend. That made the Aces sideline a fitting spot for the new Heat star to settle in for the night.
Stewart carries plenty of MVP weight herself. The Liberty forward won the award in 2018 and 2023 and has long been one of the faces of the league. Sharing a quiet, friendly moment with her gave Antetokounmpo a soft landing on a day when the basketball world was still buzzing about his move to South Beach.
The night doubled as a preview. The Liberty and Aces meet again on June 30 for the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Championship, so Antetokounmpo got an early look at one of the best rivalries the women’s game has to offer.
For one evening, the most talked-about man in the NBA was happy to sit back, watch good basketball, and share a little warmth with a fellow champion.
