Lakers’ Cameron Carr throws shade at ‘flopping’ Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

On Tuesday evening, the Los Angeles Lakers partook in the NBA Draft, taking wing Cameron Carr with the 24th pick, which they acquired in a deal with the New York Knicks. Carr figures to give Los Angeles another versatile wing and perimeter shooting threat to add to the mix after a standout season with Baylor last year.

Recently, Carr was interviewed prior to the draft, and one of the questions asked was whether he would rather guard Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards or Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous Alexander. His answer is sure to make him a fan favorite with Lakers Nation immediately.

“Yeah, I ain’t dealing with the flopping, Anthony Edwards,” he said, per Fullcourtpass on X, formerly Twitter, via BronMuse.

SGA came under heavy fire for his alleged flopping during the second round playoff matchup between the Thunder and Lakers this year, which Oklahoma City ended up taking in a four-game sweep, before losing in the Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Spurs.

The fact that Carr isn’t afraid to call out the reigning two-time league MVP certainly speaks volumes about his confidence as he comes into the league.

Meanwhile, the Lakers still have some major questions to answer as this offseason continues. The team locked down guard Austin Reaves on a long-term contract extension on Wednesday morning, but it remains to be seen what the future holds for LeBron James, who can depart the team in free agency this year if he so chooses.

For now, however, Lakers fans seem to be happy with the selection of Carr after the trade with the Knicks.

NBA free agency is slated to begin on June 30.
