The Pittsburgh Pirates have been up and down over the last few weeks, currently sitting at 39-40 ahead of Wednesday’s game against the Seattle Mariners. The best player on the Pirates has been former number one overall MLB draft pick Paul Skenes, who has garnered some legit Cy Young buzz as the season reaches its midway point.
Recently, Skenes put some of his acting chops on display in a commercial for SHEETZ, adversiting the brand’s hot dogs.

Since then, Skene’s girlfriend, former LSU gymnastics star Livvy Dunne, has weighed in with a hilarious take on her boyfriend’s acting.
“Just give him the Oscar,” wrote Dunne.
Dunne has at times been poked fun at for his seemingly monotone voice and lack of vibrant personality in interviews, but he did show some range in the lengthy commerical. Meanwhile, Dunne has been in the national spotlight for quite some time, dating back to her days at LSU, where she became a star not only in gymnastics but also in the social media space.
On the diamond, Skenes has put together another strong year for the Pirates, consistently getting the better of opposing hitters and seeming to be a lock for this year’s MLB All-Star game, which is slated to take place next month in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, the Pirates as a whole have tapered off a bit in recent weeks after a strong start to the season, and now sit below the .500 mark as the All-Star break approaches.
It remains to be seen if Skenes will look to up his profile in endorsements moving forward after his star turn in the hot dog commercial.
