Landry Shamet and John Turturro are unmasking the running joke that the two are related.
Fans recognized a resemblance between the New York Knicks star and the Severance actor, which has made the two keep the joking going after the Knicks’ historic postseason run. Now, they are asking the question that fans have been waiting for. Are Shamet and Turturro actually related?
In a video posted on Instagram on Wednesday, June 24, Landry and Turturro stand next to one another and answer the long-awaited question.
“Ok I’m going to admit now,” Turturro begins before cutting himself off. “No I’m not…”
The actor then begins shaking his head before he continues on with the joke, “Yeah, we’re related.”
“Cats out of the bag,” Landry chimes in, before adding, “Illegitimate no more.”
Turturro agrees with Landry, and the clip ends with the actor joking once again, “It happens…” before walking off.
The actor is a longtime Knicks fan who frequently sits on celebrity row and he told ESPN about how the internet started the rumor that the two are related due to their resemblance.
“I said hello to a bunch of the players and Landry Shamet,” Turturro said to which Landry responded according to the actor, “‘I know where you sit. You sit behind us.'”
“I didn’t want to tell him that everyone thinks he looks like my illegitimate son.”

Well, Shamet is definitely aware now and even joked about it during the parade when he gave a shoutout to his “racially ambiguous illegitimate father” on Instagram.

The Knicks shooting guard and the actor are not related but they celebrated like father and son when the Knicks clinched their first NBA championship title in 53 years. While Shamet is not in the starting five for the Knicks, he still was a large in why the Knicks brought home the Larry O’Brien trophy home. He averaged 7.5 and 9.8 points per game in the Eastern Conference Semifinals and the Eastern Conference Finals, and about 6.8 points per game in the Finals.
