Latest Royals’ Bobby Witt Jr. injury update after missing Rays game

Kansas City Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. is once again not in the lineup on Thursday as he deals with an injury. Witt is battling a Grade 1 MCL sprain. The Royals star suffered the injury last week against the St. Louis Cardinals. Although he is not playing on Thursday, Witt received an encouraging injury update, via MLB.com.

He is still listed as day to day and Witt has been able to do on-field drills.

Injuries have been a concern for the Royals throughout the season. Stars such as Vinnie Pasquantino and Maikel Garcia are currently on the injured list. The ball club has underperformed overall, as they hold a 34-47 record at the moment.

Witt, however, has performed well once again. The 26-year-old shortstop is hitting .294/.368/.465 across 76 games played. He has 10 home runs, 19 doubles and one triple as well. Despite missing almost a week with his current injury, Witt still leads the league with 28 stolen bases.

The fact that he is considered day to day is encouraging to say the least. It seems as if he should be able to return sooner rather than later.

Following their series against the Rays in Tampa Bay, the Royals are set to travel to play the Chicago White Sox. Perhaps Witt will end up returning during the weekend series in Chicago.

Updates on Bobby Witt Jr.’s injury status will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available. Meanwhile, the Royals are currently focused on their game against the Rays on Thursday.
